Activision, hot off of releasing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, has released their Q3 2014 financial results today, exceeding their projected expectations. As part of the list of successes for the company, it has been made clear that the WoW subscription count sits at 7.4 million. World of Warcraft returns to 7+ million subscribers this quarter after hitting 6.8 million last quarter. Furthermore, in a conference call to investors, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg confirmed that development on Destiny 2 has already begun.

More from Blizzard: World of Warcraft

While there’s of course no release date yet, one has to consider that Destiny was in development for at least 6 years before it was released in September. Activision isn’t going to abandon what they’ve made so early to get a jump into Destiny 2 early. In just the first few months, Destiny has 9.5 million registered users, meaning that ongoing content to bridge the gap will take precedent until Destiny 2 is close to being finished.

In addition to the Destiny and World of Warcraft news, Hearthstone also passed a big milestone. The computer card game has reached more than 20 million registered users, which is a bit harder to gauge sales-wise as a free-to-play game. Additionally, Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition sold 4th best over the past quarter in North America and Europe combined, while plain Reaper of Souls stays at the #2 PC game in dollars throughout the entire year.
