Rocket League Got Heavy Twitch Stream Play Last Month

When you give away something for free every month to a large consumer base, a significant portion of that base will, at the least, accept it and check it out. Luckily for Psyonix, they just so happened to produce an exquisite video game last month in Rocket League. Because it was given away with PlayStation Plus, a wider audience can understand why. People love playing and showing off Rocket League so much that it made Twitch’s monthly list of “Top Games,” as judged by total minutes watched.

Here is where Rocket League lands on the list for July 2015:

  1. League of Legends
  2. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
  3. Dota 2
  4. Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft
  5. Rocket League
  6. World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor
  7. Gaming Talk Shows (Colin & Greg Live, etc.)
  8. Minecraft
  9. World of Tanks
  10. Destiny

When you really think about it, what Rocket League did in the span of a month is quite remarkable. Not only did it immediately provide an easy-to-learn, hard-to-master soccer game that has the maneuverability and handling of driving quick vehicles, but allows for some insane shots and team dynamics due to the openness of the field. For an indie game to top World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor, Destiny, World of Tanks and even Minecraft in total Twitch viewership in July is an insane feat.

Hopefully, with more DLC on the way, we can see a lot more Rocket League content on places like Twitch and Youtube for the foreseeable future.
