Blast Mode Brings Team Deathmatch To Star Wars Battlefront

EA have unveiled another multiplayer mode for their highly anticipated winter blockbuster – Star Wars Battlefront. The new mode is called Blast, and it’s a variation on the classic team deathmatch of old, featuring 10 vs 10 battles as Imperial and Rebel forces clash across a range of locations.

Each team will be tasked with generating the highest number of kills over a ten minute period in order to gain victory, with 100 kills guaranteeing the win. There’s no heroes or villains in Blast mode, so you’ll need to use smart tactics to take advantage of the weapon pickups which are strewn across the map.

Speaking of maps, EA are keen to stress that great care has been taken to adhere to each mode’s requirements. In Blast, the map sizes will be smaller than in the vast 40 player battles of Walker Assault, but this isn’t a simple reduction in size, as each map has been specifically designed to cater to Blast, as they have for each mode within the game.

Lead Level Designer Dennis Brännvall commented on some of the sights that you’ll see in Blast mode. “One battle you’ll be fighting within interior levels on Endor or Sullust. In the next battle, you might find yourselves among Tatooine’s dusty canyons, or inside the undeniably cool Ice Caves on Hoth. My favorite is the verticality of Tatooine, fighting by the Sandcrawler.”

We’re getting closer to the release of Battlefront and as the anticipation builds, I’m hoping that we’ll get to see a public beta before the game hits the shelves. Some lucky Origin members gained access to the Alpha earlier this month, and although a selection of testers broke the NDA agreement in the process, it appears to have gone well.

It’s already been confirmed that EA Access will allow Xbox One members to play the game a bit earlier in November with a timed trial, but the details are yet to be confirmed.

Star Wars Battlefront is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on November 17, 2015.
