Ubisoft gave us a CG cinematic trailer of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate at the conference today, with Marc-Alexis Côté, the Creative Director of Ubisoft Quebec, presenting the game.

Taking place in 1868 during the Industrial Revolution, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate focuses on twins Jacob and Evie Frye as the assassin protagonists.

“This pivotal moment in human history has allowed us to create the first modern Assassin’s Creed game,” said Côté. “Together with their street gang, our two assassins, Jacob and Evie Frye, will fight to take London out of the hands of the greedy and the corrupt in order to give the city back to its people.”

Along with being able to try out the game at the E3 booth and Uplay lounge, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be available to play across 7 cities in Europe and Australia, Côté added.

The Victorian Era-set game will have a different approach to combat than previous titles because of its environment. This has also affected the development of the old countering method while waiting for enemies to attack.

“In the Victorian era, if people were to see you walking with a sword you probably would have been arrested or looked really, really out of place,” Côté had told the Official Xbox Magazine. “So when you fight with your hands it’s all about breaking bones and disabling your targets. When you fight with kukris it’s easier to dispatch them, but it’s a lethal option–sometimes you have to keep your targets alive, so that’s why you’ll use your fists. We have the cane, as well, which we’ll reveal more about in the future.”

Ubisoft had also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will have a dynamic weather system, as well as covering the 24-hour cycle.
