Things I hope we’ll see at the Nintendo briefing

  • Golden Sun

More from Features

It’s a huge long-shot, but this is the place for it. Our last Golden Sun title, Dawn Dawn, was released in 2010 and is largely considered a disappointment, especially compared to its predecessors. Then there was the removal of Isaac as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros, and the clamor to have him reinstated as a full on fighter. These little RPGs from Nintendo/CAMELOT were absolutely wonderful, with gorgeous graphics, music by Motoi Sakuraba, the Djinn system, and an intriguing universe. Though highly unlikely, a small part of me keeps a close eye out every year for a new Golden Sun title.

  • Metroid

Though right now the signs point to Retro bringing us a new Donkey Kong game, what if it was a new Metroid game instead? Or BOTH. Retro Games mercifully had nothing to do with Other M–their last titles were all Metroid Prime. With no Metroid game yet this gen, Nintendo’s running out of time if they want the series to persist on this set of consoles.

  • Pokemon

Finally, Pokemon. I have little to no hopes for this at E3. Main series Pokemon announcements are historically never made at E3, and with all the small-fry Pokemon titles announced for later this year, it seems more likely we’ll be off to the next region sometime in 2016.

Still, I can’t help but hope. If we get anything, it’s likely to be Pokemon Z or Delta Emerald–something to wrap up the remaining mysteries of this generation and ease us into whatever grand new adventure Game Freak will be taking us on next. Or…perhaps…there’s always the whimsical dream of a Pokemon Snap game for the Wii U. But that may be straying too far into the realm of impossibility.

That’s it for Nintendo! Did I miss anything? What are you hoping to see at E3 this year? Let us know in the comments below!
