What a long, strange trip 2015 has been for gaming. We saw the revival of series’ from the past, promises of revivals for the future and too many games being pushed back in 2016. Now that we’ve all got the chance to play games that have come out last year, here is GameSided’s Top 10 Game of the Year 2015 list!

For disclosure’s sake, over the past few weeks, the GameSided staff have converged to discuss what is and isn’t worthy for nomination for 2015 Game of the Year. All remakes, remasters and ports were exempt from eligibility. Once we broke it down to a final selection of 50, questionnaire forms were sent out, highlighting all games eligible in a randomized order. I then asked everyone to provide a minimum of a Top 5 list in ranked order, with an unlimited maximum games possible for each list. Here is the points breakdown per ranking, as determined once the maximum votes tally came in:

  • 1st place: 75 points
  • 2nd place: 50 points
  • 3rd place: 40 points
  • 4th place: 35 points
  • 5th place: 30 points
  • 6th place: 25 points
  • 7th place: 20 points
  • 8th place: 15 points
  • 9th place: 10 points
  • 10th place: 5 points
  • 11th place: 4 points
  • 12th place: 3 points
  • 13th place: 2 points
  • 14th place: 1 point

Tie-breakers are determined by the following precedence: number of first place votes -> number of second place votes -> number of total votes.

With that out of the way, on to the Top 10!
