Evo 2015 Lineup Announced; Super Smash Bros Melee In

facebooktwitterreddit

Even though we have a date and a location for Evo 2015, we still needed some games to fill out the lineup. Thankfully, tonight we received a hearty list of fighting games scheduled to be aired during the fighting game community’s biggest event of the year. Announced live via the main Twitch channel over at Twitch.tv, Mike Ross and Joey “MrWizard” Cuellar were on hand to announce the full lineup of games coming to Evo 2015 this year.

Evo 2015 Full Lineup

  • Ultra Street Fighter IV
  • Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
  • Super Smash Bros for Wii U
  • Guilty Gear XRD -SIGN-
  • Killer Instinct
  • Mortal Kombat X
  • Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax
  • Tekken 7 (Arcade)

And last, but certainly not least, Super Smash Bros. Melee. That’s right, not only will Evo 2015 feature Nintendo’s most recent (and excellent) fighting/party game offering, but community favorite Melee will also make a reappearance.

More from News

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night was the fact that Tekken 7 will be making its worldwide tournament debut at Evo 2015 this year. What makes this announcement so special is that Tekken 7 isn’t even out yet on consoles. It hasn’t even hit arcades over in Japan yet! That’s right, Evo, Bandai Namco and Mad Catz are working together to bring back competitive arcade play to Evo 2015, for the first time in a long time.

Tentatively, Tekken 7 competitors can practice play on the event’s Friday, while tournaments will likely begin on Saturday. Furthermore, arcade events are expected to make North American appearances between now and Evo 2015.

So, there you have it. Two anime games, two Smash Bros. games, Mortal Kombat and an arcade title will headline the main events for Evo 2015. BlazBlue, Injustice and KoF are out. Let us know your thoughts on this year’s lineup in the comments section below.
