It has been quite a while since we last heard from Nintendo via Nintendo Direct, but that changes fairly soon. Nintendo of America has announced via Twitter that they will be hosting a Nintendo Direct on January 14 at 9 AM EST / 6 AM EST.

This Nintendo Direct event will focus on games being released for both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS this coming Spring season. However, with rumblings of the New Nintendo 3DS and its ambassador program over in Europe, one has to believe that the newest handheld gaming device will, at least, get some sort of a mention during the news stream this time around.
The timing of this Nintendo Direct could not come at a better time for Nintendo of America. The most notable upcoming Nintendo 3DS titles with confirmed release dates are Code Name S.T.E.A.M. on March 13th and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on March 31st. Wii U’s current outlook is not so hot, either, with Kirby and the Rainbow Curse the only title outside of digital releases scheduled for a release in the next few months.
