Nintendo Direct: Duck Hunt Coming To Wii U Virtual Console
By Erik Sugay
A new Nintendo Direct is upon us! And, I mean, we just had a fact-filled one dedicated to Super Smash Bros. a few weeks ago. What a gift! Other than The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask remake being announced for the 3DS, though, this Nintendo Direct was pretty uneventful.

For some reason, Nintendo decided to make an announcement trailer for the Duck Hunt dog and bird joining Super Smash Bros. Wii U, as if the 3DS game didn’t reveal that weeks ago. But that’s not all! The original NES Duck Hunt is coming to the Wii U Virtual Console.
You know how game director Masahiro Sakurai justified the absence of Ice Climbers in Smash Bros. because, other than some technical limitations, characters from series not getting new installments soon wouldn’t get priority? Fans were rightfully confused why the Duck Hunt duo was included. A Virtual Console release isn’t exactly a new title, but I guess it’s something.
Anyways, prospective players will need a Wii Remote accessory to play the game. No release date was revealed.
