Assassin’s Creed Rogue Trailer Shows…An Assassin’s Creed Game
Ubisoft’s plan to release two Assassin’s Creed games on the same day is a perplexing one, but since one is for next-gen consoles and the other is for last-gen consoles, it will be an interesting overlap for consumers. The game development and publishing company released a gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed Rogue today, going into a bit more detail about the game, it’s characters and why you should buy the PS3/360 game as its own entity.

The story follows Templar Shay, but will incorporate characters from previous Assassin’s Creed games. Haytham Kenway, Assassin’s Creed III will be featured in the game, and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s Adewalé was featured in the above trailer, with a focus on bridging the story gaps between each of these two games’ overarching narrative. It will be developed by Ubisoft Sofia, the studio situated in Bulgaria, while the setting of the game will take place in New York during the Seven Years’ War.
When it comes to actual gameplay, you can expect the same basic tenets that the series has provided, as of late. Lots of swashbuckling, naval combat, urban traversal and shooting foes with old timey pistols. However, instead of playing with up to three other buddies (like in Assassin’s Creed Unity), it’s a single player campaign once again. With an install base of ~160-165 million possible players on the Xbox 360 and the PS3, as well as the name recognition the series has brought, one has to wonder if it even matters that “the next Assassin’s Creed game” looks like “the last Assassin’s Creed game.”
Assassin’s Creed Rogue will be released on the PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 11th.
