Batman: Arkham Knight Delayed Until 2015

facebooktwitterreddit

It was reported here as one of the first sites to cover the delay rumor, but now that rumor appears to have been confirmed. Batman: Arkham Knight has officially been delayed until 2015, according to a Batmobile trailer released today. At the very least, that’s one more title knocked off a release-packed October 7th – 14th block.

If I were to venture a guess as to why the title was delayed, it would have to be because of the inexperience of developers producing multiplatform content for next-gen only. There’s a certain benchmark of available memory that can be used when working with the Xbox 360 and PS3, and because that restriction has been removed, it’s a lot easier for developers to increase the size of open worlds, improve lighting physics, textures and create smarter AI. It takes time for a team to fully realize their potential and create a better game from scratch.

This Batman: Arkham Knight news continues a trend that saw Halo 5:Guardians, The Division, The Order: 1886 and countless other titles get pushed back from 2014 to sometime during 2015. With a lackluster lineup of games being released this year for the PS4 and Xbox One, you have to wonder if console sales will start to slow down their torrid pace early into their life cycles.

Batman: Arkham Knight will now be released sometime next year for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
