Tigers vs Red Sox: Game 5

With the final Tigers home game of the series, Detroit looked to close out strong ahead of Game 6. Instead, they could only score 3 runs in a 6th inning outburst that saw the likes of Fielder and Dirks scoring the team’s RBI, while Hernan Perez (replacing a precautionary injury to Omar Infante) scoring the then-winning run. Sanchez was deprived of yet another win as Benoit blew his second save of the series, giving up 3 ER on 3 hits over 2 outs in the 9th.

David Ross made an appearance late in this game that shifted the tide of the ALCS. John Farrell‘s insane dice roll turned out for the better, as his 3-run home run gave the Red Sox the lead. Instead of Lester getting the loss (going 5.2 innings, giving up 3 ER on 6 hits, a walk and 6 K’s), Craig Breslow came out with the win in relief.
