Tigers vs Red Sox: Game 4

The Tigers even the series due in no short part because of their pitching. The offense came in bunches, as Infante and Avila carried most of the RBI weight. Still, there were many 0-fers, including Jose Iglesias, Torii Hunter and Miggy. It didn’t matter for Doug Fister, however, as he sported a 9 hit, 14 strikeout complete game shutout.

The Red Sox had plenty of hits, but even more strikeouts. Jacoby Ellsbury, Jonny Gomes and Middlebrooks struck out 7 times between them. Additionally, the starting pitching did not hold up well either, as Jake Peavy lasted 4 innings and gave up 4 ER on 7 hits, 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Ryan Dempster was actually pretty great in relief, striking out 3 in 4 hitless innings of relief.
