Tigers vs Red Sox: Game 6

The Tigers lose Game 6 on the road, giving the Red Sox their first World Series berth since they won it all in 2007. It was a real pitcher’s duel in this game, as the offense was fairly lacking for both sides. The Tigers scored all their runs on a 2-run Prince Fielder home run, as Scherzer was assigned the crushing series-deciding loss. He finished 7 innings by giving up 3 ER on 8 hits, a walk and striking out 4.

The Red Sox faithful were awarded for their futility, as they finished 3-1 in 1-run games this ALCS. David Ortiz smashed a 2-run home run for his only hit of the game, while Middlebrooks’ 2-3 game with an RBI double clinched the series. Buchholz pitched very well, lasting 7 innings and gave up only 2 ER on 4 hits, 2 walks and striking out 3.
