Ubisoft Releases Free Child of Light Digital Book

It appears Ubisoft isn’t exactly done with Child of Light. To celebrate the one-year anniversary of the game’s release, the company just released a brief, but beautifully done digital children’s book that takes place within that incredibly charming RPG’s universe of Lemuria. This vignette, Child of Light: Reginald the Great, is set years after the game’s story concluded and focuses on Reginald, the son of familiar characters Robert and Margaret.

Jeffrey Yohalem returns to write the new protagonist’s tale. If you were put off by the game’s insistence on having the narrative rhyme – which worked wonderfully in parts, but ineffectively and awkwardly in others – you can take comfort in the fact that this simple story isn’t told in verse.

You can download the ebook here.

Also be sure to check out the interview with Child of Light’s Creative Director, Patrick Plourde, and artist, Serge Meirinho. If you enjoyed the game and this ebook, you’ll be delighted to hear that at least two more books in the Child of Light universe are coming and the company wants fans to contribute by submitting their own illustrations.

“Since we have such an awesome community, I have this dream of involving the fans directly and sharing Reginald’s adventure with the community to build this part of Lemuria’s story,” says Plourde. “This project is an invitation to join us in the creation of this part of Lemuria. We illustrated the first book and to channel the talent of the community, we invite you, our fans, to bring the others to life.”

More information on how to participate will be available at a later date.
