Minnesota Twins

Ervin Santana managed to miss half the season with an injury, proving that luck kept my pre-suspension simulation viable. I guess this exercise means expect little when he comes back, as 5.22 ERA over 16 starts should come as a big warning. Either wayy, the Twins can expect some fun out of Phil Hughes, at least, who did a good job after coming from a literally-historic 2014 season. His 3.55 ERA was met with just 44 walks compared to 174 strikeouts, although it’s not close to the same BB/K ratio from last year. Everyone else on the Twins pitching staff was garbage, save for a ridiculous 1.31 ERA, 47 save, 58 K closing effort from Glen Perkins.

Expect some great things from youngster Oswaldo Arcia. His 25 HR, 76 RBI, swing-at-everything approach seems to give him power, at least. Meanwhile, Joe Mauer’s finalized transition to first base went swimmingly once more, as he walked as many times as he struck out (95), while relying on a high BA (.313) and OBP (.404) to produce and score his runs. Eduardo Nunez walked just 14 times in over 525 plate appearances, which has to be some sort of all-time low in a season where you’re a qualified hitter. So goes the way of the Minnesota sports fan.
