Star Wars Rogue Squadron, Others Hit GOG
Last year, after finding no other reasonable way to play Star Wars: Rogue Squadron on my PC, I sprung for a Nintendo 64, controllers and games at a garage sale. I can finally sell my dust-collecting Nintendo 64, as GOG has my back with Part 2 of Wave II of Star Wars games releases coming to their service DRM-free. Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Star Wars: Rebellion and Star Wars Empire at War: Gold Pack are now available to purchase. Better yet, GOG teases the fact that one more slew of games is expected in the near future with the help of Disney Interactive, so look out for that!
As Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released very late this year, now is the perfect time for developers and platform digital distributors to capitalize on the backlog of LucasArts or Lucasfilm games. With EA also planning to release their reimagination of the Star Wars Battlefront series by the end of the year, it would be nice if we can capture the magic of the golden era of Star Wars games once again. The 21st century’s output hasn’t been too kind, up to this point.
