Not Long Until Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain Release Date Announcement
Around the time Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes was released, it seemed like it would be forever until we would get to experience the second half (read: 95% of the game), in The Phantom Pain. The way that Hideo Kojima described its sheer magnitude via this map for scale led me to believe that we would get our hands on the open world stealth action title sometime in Early 2016, at the earliest. However, Kojima Productions have been hard at work, and according to Game * Spark (via Gematsu), an announcement for a release date is imminent.
“I know you’ve all been eagerly awaiting word on [Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain] releasing timing,” a representative for Kojima Productions said during a recent Kojima Station video focusing mostly on Hideo Kojima’s entertainment picks for 2014. “I think we should be able to announce that soon, so look forward to that. It’s only a little longer.”

With a confirmed release date for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain coming sometime in 2015, and word that the game is currently implementing last features right before the bug-squashing phase, getting a solid release window logically shouldn’t be that far off. However, Kojima-san has been known to be methodical in his approach to game development, making sure that everything works properly before release. GDC 2015 is the next biggest conference event on the docket for Konami (outside of the Taipei Game Show), so it may be a few weeks or months until we know for sure.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.
