Club Nintendo Program Coming To An End
It was…a thing while it lasted, but now Club Nintendo will be coming to an end. As revealed in a press release, Nintendo’s loyalty program will stop providing coins for purchased games, and will not take in new registrants, on March 31st.

Club Nintendo won’t suddenly end on March 31st, however, as they will begin providing more reward options for those still with coins left over in February. That means you shouldn’t burn through your remaining points until all items are on the table and available to choose from! You can’t stall forever, as the loyalty program will stay intact until June 30th of this year.
If you’re worried that Nintendo will ditch keeping a rewards program for eternity, don’t fret! While Club Nintendo will be gone later this year, Nintendo says that they will be announcing a new customer loyalty program at a later date. To make up for the transition, every member of Club Nintendo will be receiving Flipnote Studio 3D software for free download starting in February. This free version will allow you to craft your own 3D animations and share them locally via wifi. The download will be free until June 30th.
The Flipnote Studio 3D North America experience seems to be watered down from what it is overseas, but likely seems to be an effort to prevent the sharing of not-safe-for-work creations from spreading easily to children who own Nintendo 3DS devices. Nevertheless, with Club Nintendo shutting its doors, one has to wonder what is next for Nintendo. Feel free to speculate in the comments section below!
