Pillars of Eternity, the isometric 3D RPGKickstarter project from Obsidian Entertainment (previously named Project Eternity), finally has a release date. After being pushed back from a Q4 2014 launch, Pillars of Eternity will now be released on March 26th. It was announced as part of a Kickstarter Update to the backers of the project, with the game getting ready for purchase on Steam, GOG and other online retailers.

The development team has been using their delay time to squash bugs and further polish the game, which will operate in the vein of the old Baldur’s Gate style of party-based, point-and-click RPG. Character models have been updated to provide further detail in their gear, armor and other trimmings. You can check out the visual differences above. Additionally, the team at Obsidian has been working on finalizing material packages to provide to backers who met certain Kickstarter pledges in a timely fashion.

Finally, publishers Paradox Interactive will be showing of gameplay of Pillars of Eternity on January 15th at 4 PM EST live on their Twitch channel. Plus, PAX participants and PAX South and (possibly) PAX East will be given the opportunity to preview the game, while the developers sit in on a panel and answer questions about the game and its development process.

Pillars of Eternity will be released on PC, Mac and Linux at its March 26th launch.
