Resident Evil Zero May Be Next Remaster In The Series
When you own the rights to a gaming property, it is a great deal easier to remaster a game than to remake it outright. Yes, sometimes remasters involve working on game areas completely from scratch, but on a basic level it is easier to upscale and up-res a game than to reimagine it from one perspective and transpose it onto another. That’s why it makes sense that Capcom’s next project into the classic Resident Evil games may be with Resident Evil Zero, as opposed to something like a Resident Evil 2 or 3 remake.

This notion comes from an eagle-eyed user on NeoGAF, who spotted Biohazard Zero imagery on promotional materials for the upcoming Resident Evil HD Remaster on Capcom Japan’s website. The screenshot, featured above, shows the PS4 theme that includes the icon. They have since replaced the image on the website with the one featured below, as if nobody would notice!
Still, without an official release or confirmation from Capcom, we can’t say for sure if the Japanese gaming company will 100% commit themselves to a Resident Evil Zero remaster. Therefore, consider this as a well-placed rumor for now. At the very least, we can appreciate the old school Resident Evil sensibilities when Resident Evil HD Remaster will be released digitally in North America on January 20th for the PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and Xbox 360.
