EB Games Black Friday ‘Deals’ Are Disappointing

Black Friday has only become as prevalent as its has become in Canada just recently. This year is one of the first years where Canadians are seeing widespread deals across most major retailers that deal with games, actually competing with neighbors down south. The savings king up here is still Boxing Day, so perhaps EB Games is saving all their bullets for that day, because their current output for Black Friday is fairly disappointing.

If you wanted to be cruelly reminded about how much you have to pay more for games in Canada, EB Games looks to fulfill that request. We see the Xbox One Assassin’s Creed bundle that comes with Unity and Black Flag for $349.99, and you also get x5 bonus points. Unlike Target Canada, there is no $50 gift card available, making it likely the least valuable Xbox One bundle available out of any place participating in Black Friday. Plus, the biggest savings on front page next-gen games are $20 off for sports games ($49.99 for FIFA or NHL 15) and dance games ($29.99 for Just Dance 2015).

Additionally, the regular PS4 mature/kid-friendly bundles are back. Both GTA V+The Last of Us Remastered, or Lego Batman 3+LittleBigPlanet 3 are available for $449. We also get to see the cheapest next-gen games on this page, with $19.99 offerings for Infamous: Second Son, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack and MLB 14: The Show.

Overall, EB Games is also offering this Black Friday the “opportunity” to trade in 5 eligible games to get $100 towards a PS4, or $100 if you trade in eligible PS3/Xbox 360 devices. It’s an excellent way to maximize EB Games’ profits and minimize your own, as most eligible games will likely net you a lot more money if you sold them on Kijiji or Craigslist yourself. The EB Games catalog of Black Friday savings is perhaps the least enticing this year. However, they always seem to pull out the big guns at Boxing Day. Hopefully, that rings true later this ytear.
