Halo: The Master Chief Collection Matchmaking Patch Postponed
Quelle surprise; an online matchmaking patch for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, that was scheduled for Wednesday, has been delayed. This has been confirmed on the Halo Waypoint forums by a member of the 343 Industries team, with a new date for this fix unconfirmed at this point.

“This content update includes a variety of fixes across the title,” 343 explains, “including Matchmaking performance issues, general UI and game stability improvements, as well as fixes for game-game specific issues in Halo: CE, Halo 2, and Halo 2: Anniversary, and more. The full patch notes will be posted later this week, in advance of the content update release.”
As noted in my review of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and its multiplayer gameplay, it’s near impossible right now to maintain a stable connection in matchmaking games. Most of the time I did end up getting in a match (after lengthy waits with repeated resets), I would get kicked out due to losing connection with the host, indicating the usage of emergency peer-hosting due to further connectivity issues. It’s a shame that the key proponent that has many people picking up these Halo games once again, in supreme online maps and competitive play, doesn’t nearly work as intended.
Whenever the next matchmaking patch for Halo: The Master Chief Collection does go live, we’ll let you know. 343 Industries says it should be out later this week, but due to the volatility that is online multiplayer for console-exclusive games at launch these days, we’ll have to wait and see if that holds up.
