First-Person Mode For GTA V Confirmed

It has been rumored to be coming to GTA V on 8th-generation consoles plus PC, but now Rockstar Games can make it official. IGN has posted video of the insanely popular Grand Theft Auto V, playing as characters within the first person. Until now, games in the series had been strictly third person, whether it be over the shoulder or in a simulated bird’s eye-like view.

From the GTA V video, you can see just how different changes to the gameplay are. For example, in first-person it is much more skill-dependent to aim at enemies with your guns, looking down the sights instead of using third-person auto-aiming. It does, however, also make it easier to aim for things like headshots or specific areas of objects. It can also make vehicle travel much more exciting, especially when on motorbikes or in fighter jets.

It’s not like Rockstar Games or Take-Two are hurting for sales of GTA V: it was the top-selling game of 2013. However, being able to play on the PC will be a welcomed addition for those who have been holding off on getting the game for more than a year at all. Seeing the wacky and amazing things that can be done with PC mods just adds to the excitement that first-person mode already brings.

Plus, with the game also coming to PS4 and Xbox One, you can bet there will be cases of double, if not even triple, dipping on buying the game. On that note, it will be interesting to see how it ranks in 2014’s top-selling list on the game’s climb up the all-time most sold list of video games. It will undoubtably reach the Top 5 by the end of 2014.

GTA V will hit PS4 and Xbox One on November 18th, while the PC version will be coming out very early next year.
