Mario Kart 8 DLC Will Feature Excitebike Arena Track
In an effort to ramp up excitement for their upcoming Mario Kart 8 DLC (Pack 1 releasing this November), Nintendo has revealed that one of the new tracks will be a re-invention of the Excitebike Arena. To showcase how the NES adaptation plays on the Wii U, Nintendo also included a trailer of the track in action.

As you can see in the video, this Mario Kart 8 DLC track adapts on the fly, changing up track obstacles, speed boosts, elevation and ramps each time you lap the course. It stays true to the Excitebike spirit, complete with the dirt road, red racing lines and NES pixel art on some of the stadium’s signs.
Functionally, I’m excited to see how the seemingly-short track works in a full multiplayer race. It appears to be about the same total size as Baby Park from Mario Kart: Double Dash on the Gamecube, which was one of my favorite tracks due to its chaos and track layout. The random variance looks to throw a wrench in the idea of familiarity, offering new experiences and racing styles.
Mario Kart 8 DLC sees its first pack release in November, while the second pack in May 2015. Neither pack has a confirmed release date at this time.
