Big Huge Games Returns From The Dead

facebooktwitterreddit

Developer Big Huge Games went down with the sinking ship that was 38 Studios. But before the disappointing (sales wise anyways, I really enjoyed it) Kingdoms of Amalur, Big Huge Games was known as a quality developer of strategy titles such as Rise of Nations. Now two of it’s founders are looking to getting back into the strategy genre.

More from News

The two founders, Brian Reynolds and Tim Train have reacquired the rights to the name Big Huge Games for their new studio, and have partnered with Nexon to produce DomiNations, a new strategy title.

DomiNations will be a mobile game that will be free-to-play and will have micro-transactions, and will focus on ruling a kingdom through the ages. Reynolds had to say:

"We think of it as this developing new genre, and we have certainly taken some inspiration, but we don’t think anyone has done a ‘sweep of human history’ game in that genre yet"

I’m sure fans are hoping Big Huge Games will do something bigger than mobile games eventually, but hey you gotta start somewhere when building yourself back up.
