Project Cars Sitting In Pit Stop Until 2015

For racing fans who thought Forza Horizon 2’s open-world racing, Driveclub’s stunning visuals and The Crew’s vastly open-world tribute to America wasn’t right for them to play this holiday season, Project Cars will no longer be their backup plan. As confirmed to VG24/7 in a statement Bandai Namco, the distributor for Project Cars, says that Slightly Mad Studios’ racing game will have its release date pushed back to March 20, 2015. The decision was to further polish both the cars and the game itself, plus find a date that “allows the game the greatest chance of success and visibility.”

Originally, the racing title was slated for a November 21st release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, with a Wii U version primed for a 2015 release. It’s a similar release slate to Watch Dogs, which will see the Wii U version released on November 18th, months after its original May release date for all other platforms.

With Project Cars seeming to aim for a realistic simulation of its racing cars, it could have differentiated itself from all others that were to be released from late September this year. However, since it is not really considered an AAA gaming project, and would have released against both Xbox and PlayStation exclusives that were highly touted going in, it makes sense to release in March 2015. There will be less racing competition then, even if we will start to see more AAA non-racing games have confirmed March 2015 release dates.

Project Cars will be released on the PC, PS4 and Xbox One on March 20, 2015. The Wii U version release date is still up in the air, judging from a post by the game’s development director.
