Guilty Gear Xrd Sign Hits PS4 This December

Up until now, the only way to play Guilty Gear Xrd was in an arcade over in Japan. Arc System looks to remedy this by bringing the fighting game overseas to the PS4 and PS3. That’s right, as announced on the PlayStation Blog today, Guilty Gear Xrd Sign will be released on December 16th.

Using 3D models to create the illusion of 2D sprites, Guilty Gear Xrd uses the Unreal 3 Engine to create a three-dimensional anime feel in the middle of combat. With a current roster of 16 characters, some of them are beholden to DLC. It’s unfortunate, but with so little to offer in the fighting game realm on the PS4, the rockstar sensibilities of Guilty Gear Xrd fighters like Sol Badguy, Ky Kiske and that come with the base game will have to do.

The game will also come with a standard and limited edition release, with the latter coming in a boxed release. It comes with the Guilty Gear Xrd vocal collection, character book and a Sol Badguy belt buckle keychain. Pricing is not disclosed at this time, but hopefully it will be appropriately price. I’m not much of an anime-centric fighting game fan (I cannot, for the life of me, get into the BlazBlue series), but I have heard buzz surrounding the release from those who played it at PAX. More fighting games on next-gen, the better.

Guilty Gear Xrd will be released on the PS4 and PS3 on December 16th here in North America. That’s less than 2 weeks after the Japan release. Not too shabby!
