Denver Broncos @ New York Jets
This was a low scoring defensive battle that the Jets actually dominated until midway through the fourth quarter. New York just couldn’t extend their lead, though a missed field goal and a failed fourth down conversion deep in Broncos territory were the main reasons why.
The Broncos had absolutely no running game this week. Montee Ball averaged just 0.6 yards per carry, which means he managed just 12 yards on 20 carries. Peyton Manning was sacked six times, leading to Denver struggling to string together first downs.
That changed in the fourth quarter, when Manning and wide receiver Emanuel Sanders finally got the the same page. Sanders caught seven passes in the quarter, and finished with 147 of Manning’s 208 passing yards overall.
