MGS V: Ground Zeroes For PC Is Coming This December

It was teased at gamescom earlier this year, but now we finally have a release date. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be headed to PC through steam on December 18th, GameSpot reports. The game will support up to 4K resolution, will mark improvements to the lighting system as well as improve the amount of on-screen character models concurrently visible within the field of vision.

Unlike the earlier release of Metal Gear Rising Revengeance for PC, Ground Zeroes on PC looks to utilize the Fox Engine that the game runs on to better improve the graphics. The game already outputs at a native 1080p and 60 FPS on the PS4, which is considered to be a feat in of itself so early going in the console’s life cycle. To hear of 4K resolution support lends credence to just how intuitive and powerful the Fox Engine is. Although just a small percentage of computers among the gaming population are capable of outputting 4K resolutions, even fewer have 4K monitors capable of showing off the visuals at all.

The joyful surprise continues to be that Konami, a Japanese games company, is embracing the PC market. It’s one that is remarkably small in the native country of Japan, an overall mark of which is trending towards mobile gaming and away from even newer consoles like the PS4 and Wii U. They might still encounter issues when porting games to the PC (like what happened with Revengeance not launching when offline at release), but for a popular title like Ground Zeroes to be released on PC within a year after consoles shows courage.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will be released on PC for Steam on December 18th. Konami has not provided a release window for The Phantom Pain’s PC release at this time, but the console versions can expect a 2015 release.
