As previously reported, the GameStop credit card will have a variable APR of 26.99% with a minimum $2 interest charge per credit plan. The credit card will have the standard bonuses of GameStop’s power-up rewards card, such as a free 12-month subscription to Game Informer, 10% off used games & accessories & 10% extra on trade-ins. Frank Hamlin, chief marketing officer at GameStop, had this to say about the credit card:
"Our 28 million loyal PowerUp Rewards members told us that they wanted more benefits, features and offers. We have heard them and are pleased to offer them the extra perks they wanted in ways that matter most to them"
Some may view this crdit card as a predatory move on GameStop’s part as the interest rate is kind of ridiculous, but as long as GameStop offers competing no-interest financing offers in line with those of stores like Best Buy, I don’t really see a problem and might actually be interested in checking one out.
