SDCC 2014: Nomura Vision For Reinvented Batman Needs More Belts
Sweet lord, is that not the edgiest reinvention of a Batman figure design possible! Famed Final Fantasy character designer Tetsuya Nomura has recently revealed the Variant Play Arts Kai action figure version of the caped crusader, and VG247 notes it will be making its public debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2014.

A collaboration with DC Comics and Square Enix is nothing new, but still quite alarming when you consider that this is an iconic comic book character, here, in Batman. Now, I’m not that versed in the comic universe (outside of the wonderful description about the collapse of the comic book universe integrity following the death and return of Superman), but shouldn’t Batman be considered a sacred character? The fact that he’s been mixed into some sort of Bahamut hybrid seems to be a bit odd, in my eyes.
Either way, there is no confirmation on a price or release date yet, but there are sure to be more of these Batman universe creations to be revealed going forward. Hopefully, if that’s the case, they won’t be as tacky as this, but that’s just wishful thinking.
