Report: No New Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy XV Info At E3 2014

Square Enix might have already laid all their Kingdom Hearts cards on the table with their recent Kingdom Hearts 2.5 trailer. According to a Famitsu interview, translated by SQEX.info, there will be no new significant information about Kingdom Hearts III coming out of Sqaure at E3 2014. Furthermore, the same can be said about Final Fantasy XV, as well.

Square Enix’s Shinji Hashimoto:

More from News

"We are are working diligently on KH3, but I think releasing new information will still take some time. We included a small part regarding the story of KH3 In the new trailer KH 2.5 prepared for E3 2014, so please check that out."

Furthermore, on the topic of Final Fantast XV, Hashimoto said, “We judged that this year’s E3 would not be the best time to exhibit information about FFXV. Instead, we are currently planning to exhibit new information at events after E3 2014.”

If I were to venture a guess, it would have to be that Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV will get proper demonstration and prime focus at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. Although we have seen a bit of these two titles at last year’s E3 media briefings, the vertical slices appeared to be very short, providing just a short taste of the Action-RPG goodness these titles hope to provide. Seeing how Tetsuya Nomura is serving as director for both games, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see these games come out with one in late 2015 and another in late 2016.

Square Enix needs winners in the JRPG column after some recent disappointments, so taking the time to get Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV right may have to be the painful, but correct course to take. Even if it means nothing new coming to E3 2014. Who knows, it may all be a ploy for an awesome reveal. That’s the magic of E3!
