Just like how Mr. Burns preaches to not “poo-poo a nickel,” one should not scoff at the opportunity to obtain free games. In an effort to promote the upcoming Sniper Elite III, coming out at the end of this month, Sniper Elite V2 is now available for free. Announced on the Steam news page, you have until June 5th at 1 PM EDT to download it or install it to your Steam account before it reverts back to its regular price.

Sniper Elite V2 was one of the more intriguing titles to come out in the past few years, mainly because it is a shooter that lives and breathes in World War II, a point in history that has been covered to death in gaming generations past. However, its X-ray-esque killcams that follow bullets from the pull of the trigger right through past the point of fleshy impact, it brings excitement and literal visceral goriness as a unique aspect that others don’t often share. Plus, with the sequel in Sniper Elite III coming shortly after E3 2014, it’s smart for Rebellion to hand out the pre-cursor to get the game mechanics fresh into the minds of Steam users. It’s an excellent marketing tactic that may help to generate further interest in the brand.
Sniper Elite V2 is available for download right now on Steam until tomorrow afternoon.
