It’s nearly October, which means everyone should be getting into the Halloween spirit quite soon. In the video game world, this means the release of some exciting horror titles. The one I’m most looking forward to playing – and the one I know I’ll immediately regret playing because I can hardly handle survival horror games at all – is Tango Gameworks’ The Evil Within.

Shinji Mikami’s highly anticipated directorial return to the survival horror genre has seen various release date changes, but The Evil Within will finally come out on Oct. 14.

But ‘tis the season for wanting to be terrified, so if you can’t wait that long to experience the choice scares that The Evil Within will offer – and if you happen to be in Australia at the timeWarner Bros. Movie World in the Gold Coast is bringing The Evil Within to life with a maze featured in its signature Fright Nights event.

Here’s an official description of the maze:

“Using The Evil Within as inspiration, a maze will be created that includes real-life characters from the game roaming around the pathways, and is sure to be a test of nerves for anyone brave enough to enter.

“The Evil Within embodies the meaning of pure survival horror. Highly-crafted environments, horrifying anxiety, and an intricate story are combined to create an immersive world that will bring you to the height of tension. With limited resources at your disposal, you’ll fight for survival and experience profound fear in this perfect blend of horror and action!”

I’m pretty sure there’s some policy about patrons not interacting with the actors and vice-versa, so I’m not sure how visitors will “fight for survival,” but it looks like it’ll be good fun. Check out the official trailer below:

The event is open on every Friday and Saturday throughout October.
