That’s exactly what October needed; more video game releases! The creators behind the upcoming Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth announced on Twitter that the newest addition in the series will see a release on the PC this October 24th worldwide. Pre-ordering the game will provide bonus access to an Exoplanets Map Pack, providing six more planets that emulate exoplanets in real life, although there are no options for Canadian gamers as of yet to pre-order through the Civilization website.

I am intrigued to see how much Beyond Earth will differ from the traditional series. It seems like the same basic tenets of Civilization games are still with this title; colonization, diplomacy, war, multiplayer, hexagonal tiles, resource management, etc. Will the game be a pallet swap of Civilization V, or will Beyond Earth provide a wholly different experience knowing there are a multitudes of planets and science-fiction-based storylines?

We’ll have to wait and see when Civilization: Beyond Earth is released exclusively for PC later this year in October.
