Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Release Date Announced In E3 2014 Trailer

Due to the jam-packed E3 2014 conference coming next week, some publishers and developers are coming out with trailers and game reveals before the festivities begin. So has been the case with Forza Horizon 2, Homefront: The Revolution and the delays of several games like The Order: 1886 and Batman: Arkham Knight. Square Enix has decided to announce their release date for Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD via E3 2014 trailer as of late last night, several days before the event even begins. The game will be coming out on December 2nd here in North America.

More from News

The game is coming exclusively to PS3, and will feature HD assets for three complete Kingdom Hearts 2.5 tales. The first is Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, which features an enhanced version of Kingdom Hearts II with a new secret movie in addition to new items and weapons. Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep is the second, which is a PS3 adaptation of the popular PSP game of the same name. Finally, the cinematic story of Kingdom Hearts Re:coded will also be included, complete with new cinematics and new voice acting.

I would be remiss I didn’t mention the Kingdom Hearts 2.5 trailer’s ending, which teases new information about Kingdom Hearts III. From what I can gather, the story may involve historical implications about a Keyblade war, one fought over ownership of the light. The “Lost Masters” are mentioned in a land in which darkness is set to ultimately prevail. It concludes with stating that Kingdom Hearts III is in development, something I hope is not new to those at Square Enix.

Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD will be coming out exclusively on PS3 this December 2nd. Hopefully Kingdom Hearts III is not too far behind, but judging by recent pre-E3 interviews, we may have to wait a while for that.
