Several factors must be taken into account when creating a list of the 50 best Nintendo games available right now. Firstly, each game must be a current-generation game. Ports of games from previous generations or backwards-compatible titles are not counted. Second, remasters of last-gen games do not count unless they provide substantial changes or additions to gameplay or story. Finally, each of the best Nintendo games listed must have been released for either the Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo Wii U.

This list of the 50 best Nintendo games will be updated periodically over the coming weeks, months and years as both the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS end their life cycles. Any changes to the list’s rankings will be updated with the help of GameSided staffers, who helped provide their opinions on the list as a team.

Best Nintendo Games List – #50 Game & Wario

Developers: Intelligent Systems, Nintendo Software Planning & Development

Publisher: Nintendo

Platform: Nintendo Wii U

Release Date: June 23, 2013

Back during the first year of the Wii U’s launch, there was such a dearth of games just beyond the actual launch selection. Game & Wario served as a mini-game stop gap to complement Nintendo Land, offering 16 different types of challenges and events between single and multiplayer. Whether it be taking pictures of criminals, hitting targets with a bow and arrow using the Wii U GamePad, fending off projectiles in rhythm games or bowling or deducing who stole a piece of fruit, players can engage in fun games that will bring fun for hours.

Game & Wario is nowhere near a fully-fledged game, and does carry some flaws, but the games themselves have great technical finish and brought something out of the box to a console that was hurting for content.
