Season 3 of MLB The Show 24's Diamond Dynasty mode, also known as the "Please Stop Playing College Football 25 and Log In Here" season, has arrived. Perhaps the biggest headline here is the introduction of Out-of-Position players.

In one sense, it screams, no more legends are coming and we're out of ideas. But like probably every player of card-collecting modes, my hatred is quickly diminished when I find that player that plugs a hole (real or perceived) in my lineup.

Although I can't envision ever sacrificing the Randy Johnson in my starting pitcher rotation so he can play left field for me. But I haven't played with the card yet. If he rakes, he rakes. I'm told chicks dig the long ball.

The first part of the Season 3 Reward Path features new 99 overall Hall of Fame cards for Craig Biggio and baseball's real home run king, Hank Aaron. There, I said it. There are also several new Cornerstone Captains.

  • Brandon Lowe, 2B Tampa Bay Rays (93 OVR) – Boosts Hitters with under 100 Contact against RHP and LHP
  • Oneil Cruz, SS Pittsburgh Pirates (93 OVR) – Boosts Hitters with 90 or higher Arm Strength
  • Mike Mussina, SP Baltimore Orioles (93 OVR) – Boost Pitchers in the Hall of Fame
  • Steven Kwan, LF Cleveland Guardians (93 OVR) – Boosts Hitters with under 90 Power against RHP and LHP

That Brandon Lowe and Steven Kwan are giving my ideas for a slap hitters lineup. Will it be good? Probably not? Will it be fun? That's what matters to me as we reach the end of baseball season. Part 2 of the Season 3 Reward Path comes Oct. 11.
