Madden 25's Sept. 10 patch saved the entire game

It's not perfect, but defenders occasionally play the ball now in Madden 25.

EA Sports has completed a Hail Mary Pass that Madden 25 needed. I've played several games since the latest patch. Scores are still pretty high (it is a video game) but I've seen more interceptions in the past day than I did in my last six or seven games before the patch. And I'm running a fully powered up Revis Island card back there.

Corner routes are still a problem, and they have been for years. But thank John Madden that the custom stem route glitch is dead. It wasn't fun having to make the existential choice of "to glitch or not to glitch" each game. Plus, all things being equal I prefer to run the ball anyway. Ravens playbook 4 Life.

Speaking of which, the QB rollout glitch I wrote about a couple of weeks ago also got nerfed. For my money, this was every bit as broken as the custom stem glitch, but it didn't catch on as much. If I had to guess, it's probably because not every playbook has a run that could take advantage of it. Everybody could use the stem glitch, regardless of what playbook they were in.

I won't add any positive points to my Madden review because of this, after all the game launched in the condition that it did. But I am enjoying it a lot more with some semblance of defense in it. We are in the middle of an unbelievable year of sports gaming, and this patch has made it, and Madden NFL 25 even better.
