Xbox One Fall 2015 Release Schedule May Be A Little Too “Crazy”

In an interview with Larry Hyb (better known as Major Nelson), the Director of Programming for the Xbox Live Network, Phil Spencer stated that the Xbox One Fall 2015 release schedule is so “crazy” that they may have to “move some things out.”

Spencer praised this fall as “great” from a first-party, third-party standpoint. It had the right amount of games releasing at the right times. But Spencer says of the current status of fall 2015:

"Next fall, I don’t… Honestly it’s not hype at all, I honestly don’t know that we can actually ship all the stuff that thinks it’s trying to ship next fall. It just might be too crowded and we might purposely try to move some things out to spread it. Cuz the… [“give them some breathing room”], you have to, you have to do that."

Spencer and Nelson recalled a time when the fall was not a big release time, but over the years it has grown to be a major event…fall 2014 is a perfect example. The only exclusive titles we know of so far for Xbox One Fall 2015 are Rise of the Tomb Raider and Halo 5: Guardians. Quantum Break is slated for release sometime in 2015, though we don’t know when, and there are a few other games coming up that have yet to be given even a year.

It’s awesome that Xbox One will have so many new titles and should be exciting to find out what those titles are that are making things so crowded a year from now. Spencer repeatedly mentioned E3 in the interview, so it’s likely that we’ll see many of these upcoming games revealed around that time…many of which may be ready to ship earlier than their actual release dates, if they “move some things out” as Spencer has said. It will also be interesting to see how many of the titles Spencer is thinking of are Xbox-exclusive. If he’s not including multi-platform titles in that remark, things could get even crazier for Microsoft as they try to compete with the increasingly better sales of the Playstation 4.
