Swordsman Closed Beta Set For June 16

In just a few weeks, everybody will be doing some kung fu fighting.

Okay not everyone, just the lucky folks who get selected to participate in the Swordsman closed beta. Perfect World Entertainment announced today that the closed beta for its free-to-play MMO inspired by the wuxia novels of Louis Cha will begin on June 16 and run through June 27. Registration is going on now, and players picked for these test sessions will also unlock exclusive items.

Swordsman features 10 different martial arts schools representing a variety of fighting styles, some of which we’ve profiled over the past few weeks (Wu-Tang!). Suffice it to say that if you’re looking for an MMO with more dynamic, over-the-top combat than you’re used to seeing, this is one to watch.

It’s also worth noting that Perfect World should be showing the media (including Gamesided) more of Swordsman at E3, which takes place the week before the closed beta. Keep your eyes out for details on the remaining classes and more, and keep your blade sharp.
