Xbox One Starting Games With Gold Program In June
In addition to announcing an Xbox One SKU that comes without a Kinect for $399, Microsoft is continuing to fire on all cylinders. Announced via the Xbox Wire, Microsoft revealed that the Xbox One will begin its Games With Gold program starting this June.
Just like the Xbox 360 program, owning an Xbox Live Gold subscription will allow you subscription-based access to free games monthly on your Xbox One. Microsoft will start Games With Gold on their newest console by offering “Max: The Curse of Brotherhood” and “Halo: Spartan Assault.” As like the PlayStation Plus servicing multiple consoles, a Gold membership will get you access to games on both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
Microsoft is taking a lot of big steps today. Along with the teased notion that entertainment apps will no longer be held back behind a paywall, it’s evident that the Xbox division has taken a good look at its current policies and noted that big changes had to be made. With the PS4 leading in 8th generation console sales worldwide, the Xbox One had to make waves somehow. Providing an equivalent games service in Games With Gold is a great step towards the top of the console market share, alongside providing a cheaper console alternative.
