E3 2014: Sony PlayStation Press Conference Dated

facebooktwitterreddit

It looks like the other shoe has finally dropped, as Sony has just announced the date and time for their E3 2014 press conference. Revealed through Geoff Keighley on Twitter, Sony will be the last games company to go on Monday, June 9th, as the PlayStation press conference kicks off at 6 PM PT (9 PM ET / Tuesday, June 10th at 2 AM GMT). They were the last of the major console-creating games companies to make such an announcement, as both Nintendo and Microsoft have already stated their plans.

Not much is known about what exactly Sony plans to show off in terms of new games, although it seems like just about anyone can create their own fanfiction list of games and called it a “leak.” There has been at least one substantive rumor, however. Project Beast, based on just how long it would take to create a fake with an equal visual fidelity (especially with that fog gate screenshot) seems likely to be a game worthy of an E3 reveal on Sony’s behalf, although that might wait until Tokyo Game Show this September. We still don’t know how long the game is in development.

Either way, the PlayStation press conference will have the last stage performance of the day, yet again. Will Sony repeat last year’s success? Will Microsoft step up their game under new Xbox head Phil Spencer? Will EA show off a bunch more sports games? Will Ubisoft show off Watch Dogs for a third year in a row?
