WildStar To Kick Off Open Beta With Livestream On May 8
By Nick Tylwalk
Hear that buzzing noise? It’s being generated by the upcoming June launch of WildStar, as Carbine’s sci-fi epic is poised to bite into the free time of MMO fans everywhere.
Before we get to that, there’s an open beta period that will allow everyone who wants to experience Nexus to do so for 10 days. That starts this Thursday, May 8 and runs through May 18, and will bump the level cap to 30 to allow players to experience some content for the first time.
To get things set off properly, the WildStar team is having a 30-minute livestream at 11 am PT on May 8 on the game’s Twitch channel. Participants will include product director Mike Donatelli, creative director Chad Moore, producer Stephen Frost and development director Matt Mocarski. All of them will answer questions and explain why “WildStar is going to kick ass and disrupt the MMO category at launch and beyond.”
An even longer livestream (six hours!) is set for Friday morning, again at 11 am PT. That one will open up the floodgates to questions on multiple social networking channels (Facebook, Reddit, Tumblr, Twitter, Twitch and Vine, for starters) so that everyone can find out more about what’s being planned for and after the official release date.
If you have questions you’d like to see answered during one of the livestreams, let us know in the comments section and we’ll pass them along to Carbine, increasing the chances they’ll get addressed later this week.
So, open beta, some big livestreams … yep, it’s about time for the buzz about WildStar to get even louder.
