Zelda Confirmed For Super Smash Bros Wii U, 3DS

It’s a Boxing Day miracle! According to the official Super Smash Bros website, Zelda is the newest character to be added to the upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. Her inclusion on the newest roster continues her existence within the Super Smash Bros realm for the third straight game.

As with past reveals, there are still oddities surrounding the announcement. For example, no promotional pictures included Shiek, with the Zelda model coming from the Twilight Princess universe. Additionally, in another promotional photo she is seen summoning the Phantom Armor from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Perhaps this character’s move set involves skills and tropes utilized from more than one version of Zelda throughout the timeline?

The way that Nintendo/Sakurai have been announcing new characters, it seems to be in a bit of cross-promotion. A link to The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds website appears below the new Super Smash Bros images. Knowing that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is coming out February 21, 2014, could we see a new Smash character announcement around that time to originate from that game?
