Best Xbox One Games List – #23 Dead Rising 3
Developer: Capcom Vancouver
Publisher: Microsoft Studios
Xbox One Release Date: November 22, 2013
An open world title, to launch new consoles, and as an exclusive is a daunting task for any developer. Thankfully for Microsoft, Capcom Vancouver was up to the task with Dead Rising 3. Starring a new hero than we’ve seen from the two previous mainline titles, we got to saw right away how the Xbox One was able to handle large swaths of enemies on the screen at once, and how fun it was to mow them down.
You’re Nick Ramos, and the world is ending. You and your friends need to escape the town before the government drops a bomb on it in six days. To prevent it playing like Sunset Overdrive or sounding like a Raccoon City situation, the zombies (with practice) are easy to manage and the fun is in completing quests from friends and strangers to help you escape. The customization of weapons brings literal visceral action that decidedly makes like of the situation, creating an understated sense of personality. It’s a zombie slasher that knows it’s one, and is the biggest Dead Rising sandbox to explore to date.
