While the RollerCoaster Tycoon series may have lost its cachet in the past few years, that hasn’t stopped Frontier Developments from working on other roller coaster construction games. Their intriguing adaptation comes in the form of Screamride, a game where you’re the test subject of rides and other events trying to create as many screams as possible. Perhaps they will be the transitive form of currency in the near future.

There are three major branches of gameplay in Screamride. The first is to develop, and test, created roller coasters that must generate specified levels of enjoyment and speed, while trying to avoid sickness. You must connect a full track while attaching to pre-determined loops and turns, adding challenge and variety. The second branch includes playing on pre-made courses yourself, where you must score as many points as possible by going fast and avoiding course obstacles. The final setting has you crash into buildings by aiming for structural weaknesses.

The differences of gameplay styles make Screamride a worthy look at.
