Best Xbox One Games List – #36 Life Is Strange
Developer: DontNod
Publisher: Square Enix
Xbox One Release Date: January 30, 2015 (Episode 1)
Telltale Games gets the majority of praise for bringing a choice-based narrative to the graphic adventure genre. Dontnod should get some major recognition for perfecting the style. Life is Strange is frustratingly polar in its praises by bringing a deeper sense of gameplay and exploration to an intriguing story about two teens against the world in suburban Portland. Being in a world of teenagers, although, brings the dialogue to an alienating (if not, charming) level.
Max Caulfield has a vision of her town of Arcadia Bay being ripped asunder from a proportionally-biblical storm. That fateful day, she sees her friend Chloe Price die from a gunshot, only for her to rewind time to stop it from happening again. There’s a deep secret behind her school at Blackwell Academy, especially with the attempted murder of students. It involves the sudden disappearance of local teen Rachel Amber. With Max and her friend by her side, they try to solve the mystery together. Hi-jinx, death, drama and narrative-driving choices are sure to follow.
