Since 2002, Sucker Punch has been keen producers for the PlayStation line of consoles, and bringing Infamous Second Son to the PS4 within its first 4 months of life was a welcome shot in the arm. Perhaps the console’s first great exclusive, Second Son sees Akomish Native American Delsin Rowe uncover a hidden ability to absorb the power of the elements, becoming a conduit. Along with some help from his sheriff brother and some fellow conduits, his goal is to take down the D.U.P. and its director, Brooke Augustine.

Updating the formula from previous iterations, Infamous: Second Son sees a host of new elements to manipulate. Whether it be the power of absorption, smoke, neon or more, the extra fields of energy beyond lightning add complexity to the series’ combat. The location of Seattle serves as a perfect backdrop for the amalgamation of elements, and its natural inclination for rain shows off the power of the PS4’s hardware. It was the system’s first truly beautiful game set in a non-stylized world; an important distinction in setting itself apart from the rest of the lineup.
